While playing this game, you embark on an adventure with Super Mario Run 3D on an island inhabited by ghosts. You confront conventional Mario enemies. You must complete each level, having collected three stars and having total health at the beginning of the level.

The participant assumes the Brothers' control and guides him through a series of challenges that will ultimately lead to his wife's successful rescue. The super mario run among provides the player with a globe map to select which path to pursue and which level to play at any given time. The globe map also features Toad Homes and Spade Panels in various locations.

The adventure game aims to go through each level by moving to the right until you finish. The player has some degree of leeway to move to the left, but once they do so, the camera will not follow them and will remain fixed in position.
